Committed to helping you help your dog be a better member of your family.

As avid dog lovers and lifelong dog trainers, here at Skygazer Ranch we offer a limited number of dog training opportunities. We believe that if you have a dog in your life, a well mannered dog is much easier to live with and generally more readily invited places, and as such that dog should be able to join you in your many adventures, including horseback riding. Here at Skygazer Ranch, our pets are part of the family. As family members there are certain boundaries and rules which make it a lot more pleasurable and easy for everyone to live together.
Through the simple process of time, exercise, a balanced diet, consistency, repetition, positive reward, and calm, assertive direction, dogs learn how to be a well behaved, easy to live with, member of your family.
We offer in home (not kennel), training experiences for your dog(s). Your dog stays with us for three to five weeks (depending on your precise training needs). In our safe, secluded, knowledgeable home, your dog's training includes basic obedience, no jumping, no biting, starting house training, socialization, and, of course, horse interaction safety. Commands can be in English or German (English - Come, Sit, Down, and Heel or German - Hier, Sitz, Platz, & Fuss). Dogs are socialized with other dogs and in public with other people. At the end of your dog's stay a one on one training session with you and your dog is included to show you what your dog has learned and how that behavior is achieved by you.
We also offer one on one training sessions with you and your dog after the initial training experience so you and your dog can continue building your relationship and your dog's education can continue to grow. With your dog's training experience comes our lifetime commitment/guarantee to helping you help your dog be the best individual they can be.
There is nothing we, as humans, can teach a dog that they don't already know. Our job, as our dog's guardian, is to effectively communicate with our dog so they know what it is their job is in our family, so they can be a productive member of the household. A dog without a job or a misunderstanding of what their job is, will find themselves a job. Training your dog, gives them a clear, positive idea as to what their job is in your home, it gives them something to think about, to do, and a way to go about it that will make you happy. Your dog wants you, their pack leader, to be happy. once your dog has learned the verbal cues as to what it is they need to be doing, we work with you, their person, to make sure you know what cues you are giving and what cues you can be giving to have your dog do their job effectively. If there are specific behaviors or tasks you want your dog to learn, which you don't see listed here, or if there are behaviors your dog is exhibiting (such as dog or people aggression, barking, biting, etc...), which you would like to see stopped, please contact us, we are happy to work with you and your specific canine companion's needs.
