Rhys is the devastatingly handsome, solidly built, Bashkir Curly stallion standing at stud here at Skygazer Ranch.  Rhys is out of Cerridwen (ABC-P-1938(F)) by KC Prince Charles (ABC-P-2476).  Rhys was born April 29, 2003, stands 14HH, and is a bright bay color.

Rhys has an exceptional temperament, impeccable ground manners, and is a dream to ride.  He has incredible suspension coupled with extraordinary agility and a back that just does not move while he is in motion.  Rhys has a powerful, ground covering stride; all the while maintaining his responsiveness to aids and sensitivity to his rider/handler.  Rhys is highly intelligent, quickly learns new lessons, is eager to please, and actively seeks new challenges (like rounding up escaped Highlander Cows and jumping odd obstacles).  While Rhys has a commanding presence and personality, he is also gentle enough that our nine year old niece handles him with ease. 

Given how versatile Rhys is, he is the ideal stallion to breed your mares to for perfectly conformed offspring capable of excelling in any direction.  Rhys presently has five Bashkir Curly fillies (Spring 2008 and Summer 2009) and two colts (Spring 2007/Summer 2009) on the ground.

Rhys is graciously on a long term loan to us from Karen Connor.  We can not Thank You and your family enough for giving us this incredible opportunity to have Rhys here as our foundation sire and riding horse, he is very much a part of the family!!

Quinlin (aka Quinn) is a colt born in April of 2007 and a filly called Flash born in May of 2008.  They are both bay, although Flash is a very dark bay, while Quinn is a bright bay.  Quinn has incredible curl, a very nice mind, covers the ground beautifully and is a very nice colt out of a chestnut Curly mare with unknown lineage.  Flash is a minimal curly, however more than makes up for her lack of curls with an absolutely dynamite personality!!  Flash is out of Ebony's Best and, like her half brother, has a very nice mind, she also has very large movement over the ground, and is HUGE!!  I am really thrilled with how these two foals from Rhys are turning out, and am looking forward to seeing how all of his progeny progress in the next few years; very exciting!!! :-)

Daisy was born June 2009, also out of Ebony's Best, she is a lighter bay than her full sister.  Has curl and personality!

Rogue (Rogue Sky Warrior) was born July 23, 2009 to Lyra.  Rora (Rain Dancer Aurora) was born August 10, 2009 to our lovely mare Epona.  Ravyn (Ravyn Nightsky Flyer) was born August 25, 2009 to our magnificent Hungarian Warmblood mare, Tiska (Ravyn is Rhys's only Curly cross foal to date).  Riot (Riot Storm Chaser) was born August 30, 2009 to our lovely mare Star.  You can learn more about each of Rhys's foals born here on our "Foal" page.
